Company workforces are slowly returning back to the office, however many companies out there are extending their flexible workplaces until the end of the year or even indefinitely. With staff working from home, companies face a new set of security challenges that must be tackled to maintain the security of their data.
We could throw shocking statistics at you that show just how important cyber security is to your business, but the UK government does that best here. It’s a really interesting read if you are that way inclined!
OK, maybe we’ll throw in one statistic!
Human error caused 90% of cyber data breaches in 2019, according to a CybSafe analysis of data from the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This is an astounding percentage of total breaches, and one that can be avoided with training.
We provide our customers with a free cyber security session which lasts between 30 minutes and an hour. We can run it over a webinar and it covers key responsibilities staff members have to protect the company data and how they can ensure they are staying safe. We also provide software installed on all computers which forces staff to regularly watch short security awareness presentations, and then provides them with a few short questions to ensure they have taken the information onboard. If staff members flag up as a potential security threat, the software will alert you and we can spend a little more time ensuring they are fully aware of how they can prevent data breaches.
Investments in physical infrastructure and security software is still a must, but the percentage of breaches that could be stopped with some simple training cannot be ignored. This is especially true as we allow staff to work remotely and potentially open up company data for access from personal computers.
